It's A God Thing (continued)

A few weeks later, I came home from visiting my dad again and as soon as I walked in the door, Jerry met me and said, “You have to come and sit down.” I looked at him like he was crazy and asked what was going on. He simply insisted that I sit down.
Jerry then handed me an envelope. Inside the envelope was a check that was exactly the additional amount of money we figured we would need to cover our expenses.
I began to sob…I had no idea what was going on. I asked if the check was real.
I asked where it had come from. I cried some more. I couldn’t understand what was going on.
We figured out that twenty-five years ago we had taken out a cancer insurance policy. If we did not file a claim against it for twenty-five years, the company would refund all of the money we had paid on premiums. Jerry had called and checked a couple of times through the years on the policy because he had changed jobs and no longer worked for the company that he worked for when the policy was taken out. The company in fact does not even exist now. When Jerry investigated, he was told that there was no premium reimbursement clause in the policy. So we forgot about it.
Obviously God had not forgotten and was just waiting for the time when He knew we would need the money. He quietly, graciously provided for our every need. In Philippians 4, Paul talks to the Philippians who had been caring for Paul and shared that God would supply all their needs.
God has graciously been watching over us and meeting all of our needs for years and years. I am sorry to say that we have taken it for granted. In the past eight months, He has so tangibly made His care and love visible to us that we can’t help but be in awe and praise His name.
